𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗔 𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗘
De mis partes favoritas del viaje a Medellín. El tour abarca 3 actividades que deben hacer si van a Guatapé.
Nosotros alquilamos una camioneta, y decidimos hacer todo por nuestra cuenta. Si van en grupo esta es la mejor opción porque además que les sale hasta más barato, pueden organizarse como quieran e ir a su propio ritmo. Nosotros alquilamos en Localiza en la sucursal de El Poblado. Existen varios tours, por ejemplo la agencia “Maxi Tours” que te lleva en bus y te prepara todo un paseo turístico a esta zona de Antioquia. Con las agencias les sale alrededor de 79.000mil pesos por persona (unos 26$) y una camioneta está entre los 300mil pesos (100$ approx.).
PIEDRA DEL PEÑOL
Lo primero que hicimos fue desayunar en uno de los restauranticos subiendo la montaña y probamos los “panes de queso”, algo muy típico de la zona y estaban deliciosos, con un jugo de mandarina que no podía faltar en Colombia.
Luego decidimos empezar por subir la piedra del Peñol para salir de lo más “difícil”. Son aproximadamente 740 escaleras, 220 metros de altura, cada 50 escalones ves pintado en el piso los números de lo que llevas. La entrada es de 18.000mil pesos por persona que son como $6. Hay parking para carros.
Les recomiendo llevar una botella de agua y hacer pausas para respirar. Hay un mirador en la mitad que tiene la mejor vista y el mejor spot para hacer fotos, incluso mejor que desde el tope. Lo reconocerán porque está junto a la Virgen.
Al llegar a la cima hay tienditas, de comida y de souvenirs, (si, esa gente sube la piedra todos los días, incluso mientras subíamos había un señor barriendo escalón por escalón). Te encontrarás con una vista hermosa, la sensación de satisfacción de que lo lograste y te auto engañarás pensando que hiciste “algo de ejercicio” en tu viaje a pesar de todo lo que te has comido.
Algo importante: llevar ropa cómoda, sobretodo zapatos cómodos. Aunque mi pinta no era deportiva [pa’ la foto], sobreviví bastante bien, pero con el croptop me picaron dos abejas en la cima. Siempre carguen anti alérgicos cuando viajen.
PASEO EN BOTE
Luego de subir la Piedra del Peñol, les recomiendo tomar un bote y disfrutar de la vista. Te dan un tour por el embalse, que era antes el pueblo del Peñol y se inundó, quedando solo la punta de una iglesia como pueden ver en las fotos. .
También te muestran casas de famosos como la de James y la hacienda que Pablo Escobar le había comprado a su hija. Puedes ver el Hotel Los Recuerdos, que tiene un yate gigante de dos pisos, donde Maluma ha hecho videos. Todo esto disfrutando de música, drinks y el viento deli.
Hay barcos grandes y otros más privados. El de 10 personas vale approx. 140.000mil pesos que son como 50$.
𝗣𝗨𝗘𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗢 𝗗𝗘 𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗘
La última parada del roadtrip a Guatapé es el pueblito. Allí aprovechamos de comer, hay muchos restaurantes pintorescos para elegir y de comida típica. Luego aprovechamos de pasear y comer frutas con crema.
El pueblito es pequeño pero muy lindo, con casitas con diseños super coloridos. Andan en estos carrritos pequeños que pueden ver en las fotos que tienen distintos diseños pintados.
En conclusión…. ¡NO PUEDEN DEJAR DE VISITAR GUATAPÉ SI VAN A MEDELLÍN!

One of my favorite parts of the trip to Medellin. The tour covers 3 activities that you must do if you go to Guatapé.
We rented a van, and decided to do everything on our own. If you go in a group this is the best option because its cheaper, and you can organize your time as you want and go in your own rhythm. We rent in Localiza the one located in El Poblado. With the agencies the price goes around 79,000 pesos per person (about $26) and a van is between 300,000 pesos ($100 approx. in total).
PEÑOL STONE
The first thing we did was have breakfast in one of the restaurants up the mountain and we tried the “cheese breads”, something very typical of the area and they were delicious, with tangerine juice, typical in Colombia and very refreshing.
Then we decided to start climbing the stone of the Peñol to get out of the most “difficult” part of the trip. They are approximately 740 stairs, 220 meters high, every 50 steps you see painted on the floor the numbers of what you have already climbed. Admission is 18,000 pesos per person that is like $6. There is parking for cars.
I recommend you bring a bottle of water and take breaks to breathe. There is a viewpoint in the middle that has the best view and the best spot to take photos, even better than from the top. You will recognize it because it is next to a Virgin.
When you reach the top there are food and souvenirs shops, (yes, these people climb the stone every day, even while we were climbing there was a man sweeping step by step). You will find yourself with a beautiful view, the feeling of satisfaction that you did it and you will fool yourself thinking that you did “some exercise” on your trip despite everything you’ve eaten.
BOAT RIDE
After climbing the Peñol Stone, I recommend you take a boat and enjoy the view. They give you a tour of the reservoir, which used to be the town of Peñol and was flooded, leaving only the tip of a church as you can see in the previous photos.
They also show you famous homes like James’s and the mansion that Pablo Escobar had bought for his daughter. You can see Hotel Los Recuerdos, which has a giant two floors yacht, where Maluma has made videos. All this enjoying music, drinks and the delicious wind.
There are larger boats but we chose a more private one. The 10 person is worth approx. 140,000 pesos that are like $50 in total.
𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗘 TOWN
The last stop of the roadtrip to Guatapé is the little town. There we had lunch, there are many picturesque restaurants to choose from with typical colombian food. Then we walk around the little town and ate fruits with whipped cream, typical from the region.
The little town is small but very cute, with little houses with super colorful designs. They move around in these small cars that you can see in the photos that have different painted designs.
In conclusion …. YOU CAN’T MISS GUATAPÉ IF YOU GO TO MEDELLÍN!
